The over all reduction ratio on the Savage 5sp model is: 4.730
The over all reduction ratio on the Savage 4sp
model is: 4.883
SO does the 5sp model with its slightly higher gearing obtain a higher top speed, than the 4sp model (on level road)in a measured average of a two way clock, (opposite directions)? If the answer is no----then there would be no use to try even higher gearing.
Primary reduction:
1.888 for 4sp model
1.810 for 5sp model
Top gear in 4sp model is .875
Top gear in 5sp model is .884
Final drive is 2.956 on both models
